Shodo
Shodo is a japanese word for calligraphy.
Japanese calligraphy is written
- on a grass or rice paper
- with a brush
- and Indian ink
The alphabets used are:
- Various kanas, mainly hiragana, katakana and sogana.
Kanas usually have some 42 basic letters, some
compound letters and diacritics.
- Kanji, the japanized chinese ideograph. The very basic set consists
of some 2000 ideograms.
